Abstract
Teachers at Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah/MI) in Ganding District, Sumenep Regency still rely on conventional methods and printed media in Qur’an instruction due to limited digital competence, contributing to students’ low Qur’an literacy. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ competence in designing interactive digital learning media to support the improvement of students’ Qur’an literacy. The program applied a Participatory Action Research approach involving 28 teachers from 12 madrasahs affiliated with the MI Teacher Working Group (KKG) of Ganding District, implemented through four stages: preparation (needs assessment through interviews and focus group discussions), training (a two-day Project Based Learning workshop using Canva and Quizizz), mentoring (four weeks of coaching), and evaluation (pre-test, post-test, and a perception questionnaire). Results showed that teachers’ competence scores increased from an average of 58.2 to 86.7, with an N-Gain of 0.68 (medium-high category); 93% of teachers (26 of 28) successfully implemented the media they produced in their classrooms; and teacher satisfaction reached 4.5 out of 5. The program also fostered a collaborative forum among MI teachers across the district. It is concluded that Participatory Action Research-based training effectively improved MI teachers’ competence in designing Qur’an-themed interactive digital learning media.
