Peer Review Process

Journal of Science Education Research and Innovation (JOSERI) employs a closed double-blind review process to ensure the highest standards of quality and integrity in its published articles. In this process, both the identities of the reviewers and the authors are kept anonymous throughout the review.

The peer review process follows these steps:

  1. Initial Manuscript Check: Upon submission, each manuscript is first assessed by the editorial team to ensure it fits within the journal’s focus and scope and adheres to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

  2. Double-Blind Review: Manuscripts passing the initial check are then sent to two or more expert reviewers who are selected based on their knowledge and expertise in the subject matter. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript for its originality, methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, and contribution to the field of science education.

    • Anonymity: To maintain a fair and unbiased review process, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain confidential. Authors do not know the identities of the reviewers, and reviewers do not know the identities of the authors.
  3. Review Reports: Reviewers provide detailed reports with recommendations, which may include:

    • Acceptance without revision
    • Minor revisions
    • Major revisions
    • Rejection
  4. Editor’s Decision: Based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations, the editorial team makes the final decision on the manuscript. Authors are notified of the decision, along with the reviewers' feedback, which they are encouraged to address in any revisions.

  5. Revised Manuscript Submission: If revisions are required, the authors must submit a revised version of the manuscript addressing the reviewers' feedback. The revised manuscript may undergo further review depending on the extent of changes made.

  6. Final Decision: After the review and revision process, the editor makes the final decision on whether the manuscript will be accepted for publication.

The closed double-blind review process ensures that manuscripts are evaluated fairly and objectively, based solely on their academic merit and contribution to the field.
