Publication Ethics

InnovaPed: Journal of Innovative Pedagogies in Elementary Education is committed to maintaining high ethical standards in all aspects of the publication process. The following ethical guidelines are provided to ensure integrity and professionalism in the production of scholarly work. These guidelines are aligned with best practices as outlined by reputable academic bodies.

1. Author Responsibilities

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and free of plagiarism. Proper citations must be given to all sources used in the manuscript.
  • Data Integrity: Authors are responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the data presented in their manuscript. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.
  • Authorship Criteria: Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research should be listed as authors. All contributors should be acknowledged appropriately.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research or the interpretation of the findings.
  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper acknowledgment must be given to all individuals, institutions, and funding sources that supported the research.
  • Ethical Standards in Research: Authors must ensure that all research involving human subjects complies with ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent and adhering to institutional review board (IRB) guidelines.
  • Corrections and Retractions: If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are responsible for promptly notifying the journal and cooperating in the correction or retraction of the paper.

2. Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality regarding the manuscripts they review. They should not disclose or discuss the content of the manuscript with others except as authorized by the journal.
  • Objectivity and Fairness: Reviewers are expected to provide constructive, unbiased, and objective feedback. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews within the timeframe agreed upon with the journal. If a reviewer is unable to meet the deadline, they should notify the editorial team promptly.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest (financial, personal, or academic) that may affect their ability to provide an impartial review.
  • Plagiarism and Ethical Violations: Reviewers should report any suspected plagiarism, data manipulation, or ethical issues they identify in the manuscript.

3. Editorial Board Member Responsibilities

  • Confidentiality: Editorial Board members must keep all information regarding submitted manuscripts confidential and should not disclose details to anyone outside the review process.
  • Support for Journal Quality: Members are expected to contribute to maintaining the high academic standards of the journal by providing advice, reviewing manuscripts, and promoting the journal within the academic community.
  • Impartiality: Editorial Board members must not participate in decisions about manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest, such as personal relationships or academic rivalries.
  • Ethical Oversight: Editorial Board members are responsible for identifying and addressing ethical issues in manuscripts, including plagiarism, ethical breaches, and conflicts of interest.

4. Editor-in-Chief Responsibilities

  • Decision-Making: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for making the final decision on whether a manuscript is accepted, revised, or rejected based on the reviewers' reports and the journal's policies.
  • Ensuring Fair Review: The Editor-in-Chief must ensure that the review process is fair, impartial, and timely. They should select appropriate reviewers who have expertise in the subject matter.
  • Handling Ethical Complaints: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for investigating ethical complaints related to submitted or published manuscripts, such as allegations of plagiarism or research misconduct, and taking appropriate action.
  • Conflict of Interest: The Editor-in-Chief must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest.
  • Publication Integrity: The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the academic record and ensuring that corrections, retractions, or other necessary updates are made in a timely and transparent manner.
