Reviewer Guidelines

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the quality, integrity, and academic standards of VIRAL: Veritas International Research in Applied Linguistics. All submitted manuscripts are reviewed through a double-blind peer review process to ensure objective and fair evaluation.

Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the Journal Scope
    The manuscript should align with the focus and scope of VIRAL and contribute to the field of applied linguistics and related language studies.
  • Originality and Contribution
    The study should present original ideas, findings, or perspectives and demonstrate clear academic and practical contributions.
  • Theoretical and Methodological Quality
    The research design, theoretical framework, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation should be appropriate, rigorous, and clearly explained.
  • Clarity and Organization
    The manuscript should be well-structured, coherent, and written in clear academic English.
  • Use of References
    References should be relevant, recent, and properly cited according to the journal’s citation style.
  • Ethical Standards
    Reviewers should identify potential ethical concerns such as plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices.

Reviewers are requested to provide constructive, objective, and respectful comments that help authors improve their manuscripts. Recommendations should be clearly stated under one of the following decisions:

  • Accept Submission
  • Accept with Minor Revisions
  • Revise and Resubmit
  • Reject Submission

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers should not share, discuss, or use any unpublished material from the manuscript for personal advantage. Reviewers are also expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and decline the review if necessary.

The review process is generally expected to be completed within the timeframe determined by the editorial office to ensure timely publication.
