Allegation of Research Misconducts

Research misconduct includes practices such as fabricating or falsifying data, manipulating citations, and plagiarism throughout the research process, from creation to reporting. Those involved in such activities are responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of scientific records.

When there are suspicions of misconduct, the editors and editorial board of Mapande: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan follow the recommended procedures from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to address these issues fairly. This includes a detailed investigation by the editors. Manuscripts with proven misconduct will be rejected immediately. If the misconduct is found in a published paper, that paper will be retracted, and the retraction will be linked to the original publication.

Addressing allegations begins with verifying their authenticity and determining whether they constitute research misconduct. This process also involves checking for any conflicts of interest from those making the allegations.

If there are concerns about scientific misconduct or other major research discrepancies, the corresponding author will be informed and asked to provide a detailed explanation on behalf of all co-authors. This may lead to further reviews or consultations with experts, such as statistical reviewers. If the misconduct is unlikely, publishing clarifications or additional analyses, usually as letters to the editor with correction notices, may be adequate.

Institutions are responsible for thoroughly investigating claims of scientific misconduct. Authors, journals, and institutions share the duty to ensure the accuracy of scientific records. Mapande: Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan is committed to upholding the validity and integrity of the scientific record by addressing misconduct concerns and taking necessary actions such as corrections or retractions.

The handling of research misconduct allegations follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available at https://publicationethics.org/misconduct.
