Reviewer Guidelines

The Editorial Board of JENDELA (Jurnal Pengetahuan dan Kolaborasi Ilmiah) sincerely appreciates the valuable contribution of reviewers in maintaining the scientific quality, integrity, and credibility of the journal. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of manuscripts submitted for publication.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic and practical merits, regardless of the authors' nationality, ethnicity, gender, institutional affiliation, or personal beliefs.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscript information and not disclose or use unpublished materials for personal benefit.
  • Complete the review within the requested timeframe or promptly notify the Editorial Office if they are unable to do so.
  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.
  • Provide constructive comments that help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.

Review Criteria

Reviewers are requested to assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

1. Relevance to the Journal

  • Is the manuscript consistent with the aims and scope of JENDELA?
  • Does it report a genuine community service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) activity?

2. Originality and Innovation

  • Does the manuscript present a novel approach, innovation, or best practice?
  • Does it contribute meaningful knowledge or practical solutions for the community?

3. Scientific Quality

  • Are the objectives clearly stated?
  • Is the methodology appropriate and adequately described?
  • Is the implementation systematic and well documented?

4. Community Impact

  • Does the activity effectively address community needs or problems?
  • Are the outcomes measurable and beneficial?
  • Is there evidence of community participation and empowerment?

5. Results and Discussion

  • Are the results presented clearly?
  • Are the findings supported by appropriate evidence?
  • Are the conclusions consistent with the objectives and results?

6. Presentation Quality

  • Is the manuscript well organized and easy to understand?
  • Are tables, figures, and illustrations relevant and properly presented?
  • Is the language clear, accurate, and grammatically correct?

7. References

  • Are references relevant, current, and sufficient?
  • Are citations and references formatted consistently?

Ethical Responsibilities

Reviewers must:

  • Keep all manuscripts confidential.
  • Avoid using unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.
  • Inform the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or other forms of research misconduct.
  • Decline the review if a conflict of interest exists or if they do not possess sufficient expertise in the manuscript's subject area.

Review Recommendations

At the end of the review, reviewers should recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept – The manuscript is suitable for publication without revision.
  • Minor Revision – The manuscript requires minor improvements before publication.
  • Major Revision – The manuscript requires substantial revisions and should be re-evaluated after revision.
  • Reject – The manuscript is not suitable for publication in its current form or falls outside the journal's scope.

Quality of Review Reports

Review comments should:

  • Be specific, objective, and supported by clear reasoning.
  • Focus on improving the scientific quality of the manuscript.
  • Distinguish between essential revisions and optional suggestions.
  • Be respectful and professional in tone.
  • Avoid personal criticism of the authors.

Timeliness

Reviewers are encouraged to submit their review reports within 2–4 weeks after accepting the review invitation. If additional time is required, reviewers should inform the Editorial Office as soon as possible.
