Reporting Misconduct

Allegations of research or publication misconduct may be submitted by authors, reviewers, editors, readers, or any other party. Reports should include sufficient evidence or detailed information to enable a proper investigation.

All allegations will be treated confidentially, and the identities of whistleblowers will be protected whenever possible.

Investigation Process

Upon receiving an allegation, the Editorial Board will:

  1. Conduct a preliminary assessment to determine whether the allegation is credible and supported by sufficient evidence.
  2. Contact the corresponding author, if appropriate, and request an explanation or additional documentation.
  3. Consult reviewers, editors, or external experts when necessary.
  4. Evaluate all available evidence fairly, objectively, and confidentially.
  5. Make a final decision based on the evidence and the severity of the misconduct.

The journal is committed to ensuring that all parties are given an opportunity to respond before any final decision is made.

Editorial Actions

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the Editorial Board may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Request corrections or clarifications.
  • Require substantial revisions.
  • Publish a correction (Erratum or Corrigendum).
  • Publish an Expression of Concern.
  • Retract the published article.
  • Notify the authors' institution, funding agency, or other relevant authorities when appropriate.
  • Restrict future submissions from authors who have committed serious or repeated misconduct.

Post-Publication Misconduct

If evidence of misconduct is discovered after publication, JENDELA will investigate the matter promptly. Where necessary, the journal will issue a correction, retraction, or expression of concern to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record. Retracted articles will remain accessible for the purpose of maintaining the academic record but will be clearly identified as retracted.

Appeals

Authors who disagree with an editorial decision related to alleged misconduct may submit a written appeal, supported by relevant evidence. The appeal will be reviewed independently by the Editorial Board, and additional experts may be consulted when appropriate. The Editor-in-Chief's final decision shall be considered binding.

All investigations into alleged misconduct are conducted in accordance with the principles of fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and due process.
