Ethical Clearance

Gesang: Jurnal Lingkungan is committed to ensuring that all research published in the journal adheres to the highest ethical standards. Authors are required to obtain the necessary ethical clearance and approvals for research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data. Below are the guidelines regarding ethical clearance:

1. Research Involving Human Participants

  • Ethical Approval: Authors conducting research involving human participants (such as surveys, interviews, clinical studies, or behavioral research) must obtain ethical approval from an institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee before beginning their research.
  • Informed Consent: Authors must obtain written informed consent from all participants, ensuring that participants are fully aware of the nature of the research, their involvement, and any potential risks.
  • Confidentiality: Authors must ensure that participants' identities and personal data are kept confidential and protected throughout the study.

2. Research Involving Animals

  • Ethical Approval: Research involving animals must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee or institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC). The approval must comply with national and international standards for the ethical treatment of animals.
  • Humane Treatment: Researchers must ensure that animals are treated humanely throughout the study, following the principle of minimizing suffering.

3. Research Involving Sensitive Data

  • Data Protection: Authors must follow relevant data protection laws and ethical guidelines when handling sensitive data (such as personal, financial, or medical data).
  • Privacy: Authors must respect the privacy and confidentiality of participants when collecting, storing, and sharing data. They should anonymize data whenever possible to protect participants' identities.

4. Submission of Ethical Clearance

  • Documentation: Authors must submit documentation of ethical clearance as part of the manuscript submission process. This documentation may include approval letters from ethics committees, informed consent forms, or other relevant certifications.
  • Affidavit of Compliance: Authors may be required to submit a signed affidavit affirming that they have adhered to the relevant ethical guidelines and obtained the necessary approvals for their research.

5. Ethical Clearance for Published Research

  • If an article is found to have been published without the required ethical clearance, the journal reserves the right to retract the article after an investigation.
  • Retraction: Articles lacking ethical clearance or violating ethical standards may be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published, explaining the reason for the retraction.

6. Responsibility of Authors

  • Disclosure: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect the ethical aspects of their research, including funding sources or personal biases.
  • Adherence to Ethical Standards: Authors are expected to comply with ethical standards throughout the research process, from planning and data collection to publication.
