Publication Ethics

Civic Synergy: Journal of Multidisciplinary Service and Empowerment, published by Konsorsium Pengetahuan Innoscientia, is committed to upholding high ethical standards in all aspects of the publication process. All parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the editor-in-chief—are expected to adhere to the following ethical guidelines to ensure the integrity and quality of the journal.

  1. Author Responsibilities

    • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit original work and properly cite any references to avoid plagiarism.
    • Data Accuracy: Authors are responsible for ensuring that data in their work is accurate and appropriately presented.
    • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
    • Reporting Standards: Authors should accurately present their research and objectively discuss its significance. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are considered unethical and unacceptable.
    • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of others' work is required, and authors must ensure that only those who have significantly contributed to the research are listed as co-authors.
  2. Reviewer Responsibilities

    • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and not share or discuss them with others outside the review process.
    • Objectivity and Impartiality: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear arguments and without personal criticism of the authors.
    • Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Reviewers should disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their review of the manuscript.
    • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and bring any significant similarities to the attention of the editor.
  3. Editorial Board Member Responsibilities

    • Confidentiality: Editorial board members must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not use unpublished materials for their own research.
    • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Editorial board members assist in making editorial decisions and may provide input to improve the quality and clarity of submissions.
    • Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Editorial board members must disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect their handling of submissions.
  4. Editor-in-Chief Responsibilities

    • Publication Decisions: The editor-in-chief is responsible for the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts, guided by the editorial policies and ethical standards.
    • Fairness: The editor-in-chief evaluates manuscripts for intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, or political philosophy of the authors.
    • Confidentiality: The editor-in-chief must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts, sharing information only with the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher as necessary.
    • Addressing Ethical Issues: The editor-in-chief takes necessary action when ethical concerns arise about a submitted or published manuscript, including retractions or corrections as needed.
